Vision
Herschel was founded by two brothers Jamie and Lyndon Cormack in 2009. Both of the brothers worked in sales for Vans and K2, so they were well versed in what the market needed and how to appeal to specific target audiences. They found that there was no middle-ground between high-end/expensive bags and athletic bags. They created Herschel Supply Co. to fill the gap in the market, creating an option that was more affordable but good quality
Mission
The company is based in Vancouver, Canada and was named after a small town in Saskatchewan. Jamie and Lyndon revived the heritage brand which introduced the homegrown quality and authenticity of their small town. For this heritage brand, they wanted to sell the nostalgia of home by modernizing it, while keeping the overall trusted feeling. The brothers also wanted to lean toward the 'everyday traveler,' showing that their bags can be used for any purpose, wherever a backpack might be used
